Smart won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for Hacks for the fifth consecutive year, becoming the first actor to win an acting Emmy for every season a show with four or more eligible seasons. The victory also saw her tie Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Cloris Leachman for the most acting Emmys won by a performer, with eight.
Matthew Rhys also made Emmy history after winning Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for Widow’s Bay and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for The Beast in Me.
Sally Field won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Remarkably Bright Creatures, while Linda Cardellini and David Harbour won supporting acting awards for DTF St. Louis.
In the drama categories, The Pitt took home Outstanding Drama Series, while Noah Wyle won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his role in the series. Rhea Seehorn won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Pluribus.
Other major winners included Stephen Root and Kate O’Flynn, who won supporting acting awards for Widow’s Bay, while Hiro Murai took home the directing award for the comedy series.
In the reality categories, The Traitors won Outstanding Reality Competition Program, with Alan Cumming named Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality Competition Program.
The ceremony also featured a star-studded red carpet, with celebrities including Zendaya, Selena Gomez and Meg Stalter making appearances. Stalter drew attention after arriving painted gold, while Taylor Swift also made a cameo during the ceremony.
